Nādbrahma pada - 81

એક જ દે ચિનગારી મહાનલ ! એક જ દે ચિનગારી;
eka ja de chin-gāri mahā-nal !  eka ja de chin-gāri

ચકમક લોઢું ઘસતાં ઘસતાં, ખરચી જિંદગી સારી;
જામગરીમાં તણખો ન પડ્યો, ન ફળી મહેનત મારી ... ૧
chak-mak loDhuň ghasatā ghasatā, kharachi jiňdagi sāri
jāmagari-māň tanakho na padyo, na fali mahenat māri ... 1

ચાંદો સળગ્યો સૂરજ સળગ્યો, સળગી આભ અટારી;
ના સળગી એક સગડી મારી, વાત વિપતની ભારી ... ૨
chāňdo salagyo, suraj salagyo, salagi ābh atāri
nā salagi eka sagadi māri, vāt vipat-ni bhāri ... 2

ઠંડીમાં મુજ કાયા થથરે, ખૂટી ધીરજ મારી;
વિશ્વાનલ ! હું અધિક ન માગું,માગું એક ચિનગારી ... ૩
thaňdi-māň muj kāyā thathare, khuti dhiraj māri
vishvā-nal huň adhik na māguň, māguň eka chin-gāri ... 3

English Translation:
Just give me one spark of your divine light, O' holy source of fire!

1. My entire life is spent in rubbing iron and flint stone, but
no spark fell on the squib, and all my efforts are wasted.

2. Moon and Sun are glowing bright, and entire skyline fiery bright,
but my fire-pan couldn't get ignited, thus I'm engulfed with torments.

3. Cold ignorance shakes me, as I've lost my patience;
O' Divine source of fire, I don't want anything, but just a spark.

મહાનલ = મોટો અનલ-અગ્નિ; પરમાત્મા
વિશ્વાનલ = વિશ્વાધાર અનલ કે અગ્નિરૂપી પરમાત્મા
ચિનગારી (chin-gāri) = spark of spiritual enlightenment
જામગરી (jāmagari) = soul
