Wisdom of Kabir

કબીરા સો ધન સંચીએ જો આગેકો હોય
શીશ ચઢાએ ગાંઠરી જાત ન દેખા કોય
Kabirā so dhan sanchi-e jo āge-ko hoy
Shish chaddhā-e  gāňth-ri jāt na dekhā koy

Says Kabir:
Oh people! Accumulate only that wealth which you can redeem hereafter – in the afterlife. Because I have never seen anybody going to the graveyard carrying the bundle of his accumulated worldly wealth on his head.

Purport:
Because of strong attachment to material possessions, it is very difficult for people to part with their worldly wealth. Giving away the worldly wealth to charity is not easy for everybody. In this doha Kabir reminds us to be philanthropic; because nobody can carry the bundle of their material wealth on their head and walk to the graveyard. One can carry only the wealth of  good deeds done during the lifetime.

કબીર કહે છે :  એવા ધનનો સંગ્રહ કરો કે જે આવતા જનમમાં ખપ લાગે. આવતા જન્મે એને વટાવી શકાય. બાકી તો આ જગતમાં કમાએલા ધનનું પોટલું માથે ઉપાડીને મેં કોઈને સ્મશાનના રસ્તે ચાલીને જતો જોયો નથી.
